Obituary For Alease Constance Welton- Langhorne

Alease was born in Cumberland, Virginia to the late Elijah and Mary Perkins Welton on April 13, 1935. Alease attended Cumberland County Schools and graduated from Luther P. Jackson in 1954, after which she relocated to New York where she worked until her retirement. After retirement, Alease relocated back to Virginia where she reunited with Pleasant View Baptist Church and served faithfully. She had a love for young people and established a children’s choir, taught Sunday School and introduced young people to the Baptist Convention. Alease received a calling on her life. God called her into ministry in 1975 where she received her ordination as Gospel Missionary from Pleasant View. Alease had an anointed gift and shared her love for God. She served at many churches in the community and was often called upon to conduct Sunday services and asked to many speaking engagements. Alease married Frederick Johnson in 1975 and remained married for more than two decades until his death in 2000. Alease had a special gift of caring for the sick. Even as a young child she loved taking care of others. She had been a caregiver for many friends and family members. Alease was also known for the many beautiful quilts she created for family and friends. Alease met and married Vernon Langhorne and remained married until his death in 2020. She was also preceded in death by: her parents; three sisters, Justine Welton, Audrey Washington and Natley Ford; two nieces, Jacqueline Ford Johnson and Wanda Ford Seward and her best friend, Catherine “Peachy” Woodson. Alease leaves to mourn her loss: three step-daughters, Louise

Robertson, Rose Davis and Mattie McCoy; grandchildren; great- grandchildren; nieces; great-nieces and nephews and two special and

dear friends, Rev. Sarah Moses of Farmville and Mrs. Gracie Brown of Columbia, VA.
