Obituary For Amanda Phileno Watts Webb
Amanda Phileno Webb, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, friend, caregiver, and cherished
family member, peacefully transitioned on October 1, 2024, at Heritage Hall in Dillwyn, VA. Born
on June 23, 1934, in Buckingham, Virginia to George Alexander Watts and Bertha Watts,
Amanda was the youngest of five children and was a member of Alexandria Baptist Church and
attended Jerusalem Baptist Church.
Amanda began her education at Cartersfield Elementary and completed her education at
Buckingham Training School. After completing school, Amanda moved to Wilmington, DE where
she worked as a nurse’s aide. Amanda married Sylvester Webb, Sr. on March 7, 1958, and
were blessed with four children.
Known to many as Amanda, Mom Mom and Mandy, Amanda was a known card player, cook,
coffee drinker, and loved her puzzle books. Before going into Heritage, you could always count
on seeing Amanda up first thing in the morning sitting on the front porch drinking her coffee,
having a stack of puzzle books, and listening to her gospel music. Amanda loved to spend time
with her family and loved cooking meals for anyone who needed them. Amanda was an activate
member of the Jerusalem Youth Ministry’s Vocational Bible School. She always treated
everyone with love and kindness and will be remembered affectionately by everyone.
Amanda was proceeded in death by her parents George Alexander and Bertha Watts; siblings
Alexander Watts, George Watts Jr., Emmanuel Watts, and Mable Gibson; Daughter, Marcia Webb
and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Her son, Sylvester Jr would soon join her at Heaven's gates, as he passed October 5th, 2024.

and Gloria Moody; Brenda Watts (niece/sister); grandchildren George Webb (Natosha), Taryn
Webb, Galen Jackson (Dominique), Garrett Jackson, Andrea Jones (Jerrod), Andre Moody
(Thea), Amanda Moody, Sherry Bolden (Edward), Spenser Jackson (Leah), Siedah Wilmore,
Tynetta Wilmore; devoted nieces Tyna Gibson and Melonie Chambers; and a host of great
grandchildren, a great great grandson, nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
