Obituary For Anne Marie Barksdale Rice

Annie Marie Rice departed this life on Friday, August 12, 2022. She was born in Prince Edward County, Virginia on September 1, 1944 to Charlie and Rose Brown Barksdale. She was educated in Prince Edward County Public Schools and at an early age, was baptized and joined New Witt Baptist Church. Marie, as she was fondly called, attended church faithfully her entire life. When COVID came, she attended church through Telecom. Her favorite scripture was the 23rd Psalm. She loved to read her bible, complete crossword puzzles, and play candy crush. Marie was married to Charles Ernest Rice and they were blessed with five children. She loved spending time with her family and friends. Marie was employed by Deluxe Cleaners and later worked for Hampden Sydney College until she retired. In addition to her husband and parents, Marie was preceded in death by: three brothers, James, Earl and Willie Barksdale. She leaves to cherish her precious memories: two daughters, Alvina and Emma Rice of Keysville, VA; three sons, Charles Rice (Teresa), and Joseph Rice of Houston, Texas and Garcia Rice (Janet) of Dallas, Texas; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; an adopted daughter, Cat-t; one sister, Onie Lawrence of Keysville, VA; four brothers, Walter Barksdale (Mildred) of Richmond, VA, Charlie Barksdale (Mattie), George Barksdale (Nellie) and Leon Barksdale all of Farmville, VA; one sister-in-law, Trenna Barksdale of Keysville, VA; two aunts, Lelia “ Lizzie” Scott of Meherrin, VA and Mary Brown of New York; devoted friends, Hattie Ferguson, Anna Barksdale, Linda Stokes and Sandra White; dear friends, Mr. and Mrs. Bunting and their children; and host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends
