Sister, Annie Verdell Williams, daughter of the late Rolfe and Carrie Eldridge, was born on April 18, 1929. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Odell Raymond Williams, her sons, Michael Odell Williams and Hollister Lamont Williams; her sister, Marion Eldridge Williams; her brothers, Robert Winston Eldridge, Rolfe “Booster” Edward Eldridge, and Milton Eldridge, Sr.

Left to cherish her precious memories are her loving and devoted son, Gunnery Sergeant Raymond Maurice Williams of Atlanta, Georgia; three grandsons, Aaron Anthony Williams, Lamont Douglas Williams, and Kevin James Williams, all of Pennsylvania; one very devoted sister, Rosa Elton Jones of Richmond, Virginia; four dedicated nieces, Florence Lane (Andre) of Spring, Texas, Barbara Exum of Richmond, Virginia, Kim Eldridge Glass (Jeffrey) of Farmville, Virginia, Rolfie Fobbs of Dallas, Texas; seven dedicated nephews, Melvin Heard (Cynthia) of Baltimore, Maryland, Carl Heard (Sabrina) of Charlotte, North Carolina, Herman Heard (Scarlet) of Richmond, Virginia, Tyrone Heard (Wilma) of Richmond, Virginia, Milton Eldridge, Jr (Valerie) of Frederick, Maryland, Edward Eldridge of Farmville, Virginia, and Shawn Eldridge of Farmville, Virginia; and a host of other relatives, and friends.

At an early age she accepted Christ as her personal savior and became a member of Ridgeway Baptist Church and in later years she attended Holy Trinity Baptist Church of Dillwyn, Virginia and Chicago Avenue Baptist Church of South Richmond, Virginia.

Verdell spent her adult life in Baltimore, Maryland and Richmond, Virginia, It was Richmond, Virginia where she became a life-long resident. Verdell was a pillar of the community she grew to love so dearly. She was always full of life and loved her family immensely. Verdell was a gifted conversationalist and known to engage and update everyone on current events of the community, nation and even the world.

Verdell worked for over three decades for the City of Richmond, Virginia Bureau of Police as a School Guard in the Traffic Division. She was repeatedly awarded the AAA Service Award for her dedication and dependable service while achieving accident free years at her school crossing. Verdell was known for her friendly demeanor, communication skills with a quick wit, and a high-level of professionalism. Verdell was also a highly sort after nursing assistant. She was simply adored by her elderly clientele.

In their later years, most of all Verdell loved visits from her sister, Elton. When visiting became difficult for both of them they cherished their hours long talks on the telephone each night. She will be dearly missed by her sister, Elton.
