Obituary For Anthony Rufus Austin

Anthony Rufus Austin, also known as Anphy to family and friends, was born on April 23, 1962, in Charlottesville, Virginia to John Rufus Austin and Martha Victoria Ford Austin. He departed this life on January 10, 2025, at Farmville Health and Rehabilitation Center after a long battle with lung cancer.

He received his education through the Buckingham County Public School System. He confessed Christ as his Savior and was baptized at Morning Valley Baptist Church. He worked as a mason and a heavy machine operator for various companies throughout his adult life. In his spare time, he loved listening to music, dancing, telling jokes and spending time with family.

Anthony was proceeded in death by his father, John Rufus Austin and his brother Bengy Austin. He leaves to cherish his memory: his three daughters, Myra Booker (Orrick West) and her mother Ruth Minor, Jaleesa Woodson, Aziana Austin and their mother Lisa Woodson; one granddaughter Danielle Booker and one bonus granddaughter Xy’onna Nash; his beloved mother Martha Austin, two sisters Erica Ross (William), Talanda Vaughan (Ternell); one sister-in-law Gail King-Austin; three brothers Kim Austin (Sylvia), Brian Austin and Roderick Jones; his special friend Kristin Booker; his brothers in love Marcus Turner, Edward Eldridge and William “Bill” Woodson; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family wishes to express sincere gratitude to the dedicated staff at Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital and Farmville Health and Rehabilitation Center for their kindness, support and care.
