Arthur Bernard Carter, Sr. was born on April 23, 1940, he transitioned to his Heavenly home on April 18, 2021. Born in Prince Edward County, Virginia, he was educated in the Buckingham school system. He was a 1960 graduate of Carter G. Woodson High. Bernard joined Oak Grove Baptist Church at an early age. He was a diligent member and Chairman of the Trustee Board. At church, he was a ectionately called “ABC” or “Uncle Bernard”. Bernard loved all sports. He always monopolized the TV at home to watch some type of sport. While living in New Jersey, he played for the semi-pro Paterson BlackSox baseball team. He also was an avid turkey hunter.
