Obituary For Arthur Wadell Terry

Arthur Wadell Terry passed away on April 29, 2024, in The Bronx, New York. Arthur was t h e third child born t o t h e late Arthur & Hazel Terry on June 20, 1937, in Farmville, Virginia.

Affectionately known as "Luddy" to his family, he attended Mercy Seat Public School and graduated High School from R. R. Moton High School in 1957. Soon after graduation he left Virginia and moved to Atlantic City where he worked in the casinos and enjoyed watching horse diving during his lunch.

Arthur continued his adventures north and moved to Brooklyn, New York where he met and married Vivian Davis in 1962. From their union they had two sons, Zachary & Patrick; and in 1971 he moved his
family to Section 5 in Co-op City, The Bronx, New York. After moving to The Bronx, Arthur began working for Sterling Drug Company, where he retired from after many years of service.

During his r e t i r e m e n t years, Arthur w a s able to e m b r a c e t h e activities he loved like going to the casinos and bowling where he won many tournament trophies. He was an avid sports fan all his life and never missed a Mets, Jets o r a Nets g a m e
Arthur, who was affectionately known as "The Mayor of Section 5", was active in his Co-op community; loved and well respected. There was not a day that went by that he was not outside talking with his
friends, and he always had a smile on his face. He was often heard telling the young people to stop wasting their lives and to get a job. Co-op City Section 5 will deeply mourn the loss of The Mayor and miss him dearly.

Arthur was preceded in death by his sister Hazel (Tutt) Lewis. He leaves to cherish his memories, his two sons, Zachary & his wife Genene Terry, Patrick (Dyana) Terry; Grandchildren, Calvin Terry, Ashley Portis, Tamara (Terry) and Dante Jennings; seven great grandchildren, Cameron, Milan, Joseph, Micheal, King, Elijah, and Kree. His brother & sister-in-law, Carlton and Amelia Terry, his sister,
Celestine (Pree) Greenidge; nephews and nieces, Cynthia Roach, Pavalon Lee, Bartlett Lewis, Marwan Terry and Kenya Starke; great nieces and nephews, and a host of family and friends.
