Obituary For Barbara Scott

On June 3, 2025, our mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt went home peacefully to be with our Lord.

Barbara was born on November 20, 1946, to Louise Scott in Prince Edward County, Virginia. She was raised by her late uncle and aunt, Joseph and Rachel Lyle of Pamplin, Virginia. Barbara attended R.R. Moton School until their closure. At an early age, Barbara accepted Christ and became a member of Sulphur Spring Baptist Church in Prospect, Virginia.

Throughout her life, Barbara was a dedicated worker and held various jobs, with housekeeping being her area of expertise. She took great pride in her work and approached it with diligence and care. Barbara found joy in the simple pleasures of life; gardening, cooking, and hosting family dinners. She had a heart full of love and was happiest when surrounded by her family. Barbara was known for her generous spirit, her warm heart, and her unwavering love for those around her. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her mother, Barbara was preceded in death by: her lifetime companion, William Ford; her uncle and aunt, Joseph and Rachel Lyle; her special cousins, William Lyle, James Lyle, Mable Baker and Ralph Lyle; sister-in-law, Veda Scott; and her daughter-in-law, Tabatha Scott.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her beloved children, Blanch, Brenda, Bernice (Charles), Robert, Rodney, and Barbara Ann; her dear brother, Arthur Scott of Appomattox, VA; one loving aunt, Mary Scott of Lynchburg, VA; and two special cousins, who were like brothers to her, Joseph Lyle (Sherry) of Lynchburg, VA and John Lyle (Phyllis) of Pamplin, VA.

Barbara’s legacy continues through her seventeen grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will forever hold her in their hearts. Barbara will be deeply missed, but her love, faith, and strength will live on in all who knew her.
