Obituary For Camelia Jane Turner

Camelia Jane “Betsy” Turner, 67, of Stuarts Draft, VA
departed this life and entered eternal rest on February 5,
2025, at Augusta Medical Center in Fishersville, VA. She
was born June 18, 1957 at UVA Medical Center in
Charlottesville, VA, a daughter of the late Irene Elizabeth
Fountain Turner and Lucheon Carter.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five
brothers, James “Woogie,” John, Donald, George “Joe,” and
Ronald Turner; and four sisters, Lillie Cottrell, Viola Turner,
Gloria Brown, and Phillis Randolph.

Betsy, as she was affectionately known, was educated in Albemarle County Public
Schools. She was a hard worker and very smart. She worked as a Unit Coordinator
with children at UVA Hospital for many years. Betsy was a very laid-back kind of
person and slow to anger, but if you pushed her too far you would see another side of
her. She was devoted to her family and believed in taking care of their every need.
Betsy was a homebody who enjoyed reading, playing bingo, and using her computer. A
family member reminisced that she had incredible drawing skills, and her favorite color
was yellow.
She leaves to cherish memories two daughters, Britani Washington of Union City, GA
and Brandi Washington of Waynesboro, VA; nine grandchildren, Raquan Bright,
Daquan Bright, Amiyah Washington, Breanna Washington, Alycia Coles, Jaylen Friend,
Joshua Carter, Trinity Carter, and Journey Washington; two sisters, Yvonne Turner of
Charlottesville and Debra “Kay” Turner of Dillwyn, VA; one brother, Phillip (Thelma)
Turner of Scottsville, VA; a devoted friend and father of her children, Kenneth “Kenny”
Washington of Lynchburg, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and
friends who will miss her but never forget her. At the request of our beloved Betsy,
there will be no memorial service or repast!

As long as hearts remember, as long as hearts still care
We do not part with those we love, they’re with us everywhere.
