Obituary For Clyde Alphonso Turner
Clyde Alphonso Turner was born September 9, 1931 in Timmonsville,
South Carolina, to John Turner and Everlina Sparks Turner, who both
passed when he was very young. He moved to Richmond, Virginia and
was raised by his oldest sister Johnnie Turner Fogle and her husband
Reverend Earnest C. Fogle, to whom he lovingly called Mom and Dad.
He accepted Christ’s salvation at an early age and has been true to his
walk with Christ throughout his life. Brother Turner received his early
education in the Richmond School System, graduating from Armstrong
High School. After graduation he first enlisted in the US Air Force
January 1950, where he served as a medic in the Philippines during the
Korean War, and separated from service in 1953. Brother Turner then
moved to Mount Vernon, New York where, in pursuit of an education in
medicine, he met his Lifelong Mate and Friend, Celestine N. Anderson
who changed his life. Brother Turner reenlisted in the Air Force serving
another 25 years and was joined in marriage April 23, 1955, where they
were inseparable for 63 years.
Brother Turner honorably served the Armed Services of the United
States of America in the US Air Force, retiring from active service at the
rank of Senior Master Sergeant after 28 years of Dutiful and Faithful
Service. His long military service included two tours in the Philippine’s,
and tours in Greenland and Alaska, California, Delaware, Texas and
Florida. He received many accolades and awards to climax with the
Meritorious Service Medal upon retirement. He proudly continued his
education graduating from the University of Maryland with a Bachelor of
Science in Sociology. He followed his military service and postgraduate
education by greater than 15 years of sustained superior service under the
Directorate of Engineering and Housing, with the Department of the
Army and Department of the Navy, retiring from Federal Service in 1995.
