The Obituary of Corrie Davis Jackson
Corrie Davis Jackson, a devoted wife, mother, cherished educator, and faithful servant of God, entered into eternal rest on May 13, 2026.

A Beautiful Foundation
Born in Bennettsville, South Carolina, Corrie was one of eleven children born to the late Theodore and
Louisa Brown-Johnson. Her childhood on the family farm instilled in her a lifelong work ethic and a joyful
spirit. Her school years were filled with joy, where she discovered a deep love for the arts, eagerly participating in school plays and singing in the chorus. She graduated from East Side High School in 1964.

In 1968, she married her first love, the late Rev. Albert E. Davis, Sr., with whom she shared a beautiful life
of ministry and family. Nineteen years ago, she was blessed to find love again, and married her devoted
husband, Steve Jackson, with whom she shared her later years.

A Legacy of Education
Corrie was a passionate, lifelong learner, earning degrees from Clinton Junior College, Saint Paul’s
College, and a Master’s Degree from Longwood University.

For over three decades, she poured her heart into the public schools of Prince Edward County, primarily
as a sixth and seventh-grade English teacher. Her dedication to youth extended far beyond the classroom through her 27 years as a Student Council Sponsor, reading clinic volunteer, and mentor.
Her excellence was recognized community-wide when she was named Teacher of the Year in 2003.

Faith, Service, and Community
Deeply rooted in her faith, Corrie embraced her role as a minister’s wife and First Lady at Promise Land
Baptist Church, and later as a dedicated member and Deacon at First Baptist Church. She served
faithfully in the choirs, missionary societies, and as a Bible teacher.

Corrie was also a proud member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. (Kappa Rho Omega Chapter).
Through her sorority and her own personal mission, in her younger years, she dedicated herself to
uplifting others by running a Reading Clinic for underprivileged children at Park View Gardens, supporting local families through annual Christmas food and clothing drives, and volunteering her summers at local Day Camps.

In addition to teaching, she expressed her vibrant creativity through reading, playing the piano,
photography, and in being a published writer of poetry. Devotion to Family Family was Corrie's greatest joy. She beautifully balanced her career while raising her “two wonderful children,” Theola Patricia Davis and Albert E. Davis, Jr.

Her boundless capacity for love was further shown when she and her husband Albert reared her younger
sister, Rev. Catherine Johnson-Huskerson, following the passing of their parents.

Later in life, she also successfully operated the Davis Driving School in Farmville.

She is preceded in death by her first husband, Albert E. Davis, Sr., her parents, Theodore and Louisa,
and five of her beloved siblings – Theola Swinson, Robert “Bobby” Johnson, Kenneth “Kenny” Johnson,
James “Bro” Johnson and John “Johnny” Johnson.
She leaves behind a rich legacy of love, faith, wisdom and inspiration through her husband, Steve
Jackson; her children, Theola and Albert Jr.; her siblings, Charles Johnson (Dorothy), Theodore Johnson, Sr., Sandra Young (Walker), Mary J. Ferguson, and Catherine J. Huskerson (Henry); her beloved sisters-in-law, Alice Moseley and Ruth Burrell; beloved brother-in-law, Woodrow Jackson; a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, former students, friends, and a grateful community. And a special thanks to Ms. Shirby Scott-Brown, a devoted friend.I thank God for His presence in my life; Without Him I could do nothing!
