Our journey in God’s eye is inevitable. Who we are destined to be is preceded by life’s experiences, education in the classroom and the roads we travel, which prepare us and give us direction. Dale’s journey too was inevitable. He was born the fifth child of Gilbert and Lillie Mae Jackson Scott. Having been raised in a household to have a strong spiritual background, he was baptized at an early age and joined Sulphur Spring Baptist Church in Prospect, Virginia. He was a faithful member of Sulphur Spring Baptist Church and was taught about great relationships and the love of Christ and family. With the guidance of his father’s teachings he would begin to learn the skills of what would eventually be his contribution in life. He received his education in Prince Edward County and was a graduate of Prince Edward County High School. Upon graduating, he gained employment and began finding his purpose. He met and married Pamela Lockett and they began their journey of building a life for themselves while nurturing, loving and supporting the lives of their children and later on, the lives of their grandchildren. Dale worked to perfect his skills in carpentry and with his accomplishments, he created a business which brought his creative skills to neighbors, family and friends. By doing good work, he walked away with pride in bringing someone else’s dreams and visions to life. He would leave with a smile on his face knowing he left a part of himself with every job. Dale leaves to embrace precious memories: his wife of 25 years, Pamela Scott of Prospect, VA; his mother, Lillie M. Scott of Prospect, VA; his children, Maurice Reed of Prospect, VA, Kayla Hix of Fort Hood, Texas, Cory Lowther of Newport News, VA, Roddeeka Lockett of Prospect, VA and Shamea Ghee ( Jonathan) of Greensboro, North Carolina; three sisters, Cheryl Paige (James) of Pamplin, VA, Wanda Armistead (Melvin) of Charlotte Court House, VA and Tammy Scott of Farmville, VA; one brother, Tyren Scott (Melissa) of Pamplin, VA; five grandchildren, Riley, Raegan, Ameia, Jonathan and Josiah; his mother and father-in-law, Macy and Gloria Lockett of Prospect, VA; sisters and brothers-in-law, Lamont Lockett (Melba) of Roanoke, VA, Johnnie Mae Lockett of Prospect, VA, Terrance Lockett (Tywanda) of Roanoke, VA, Rita Harvey ( Jerome) of Prospect, VA, Troise Lockett of Roanoke, VA and Martez Lockett of Prospect, VA; and a host of other family and friends. He will be greatly missed.
