Obituary For Deacon Aslouses Prostel Webster

On July 26, 2025, Aslouses Prostel Webster, affectionately known to all as “Tookie,” entered eternal rest at the age of 93 in North Haledon, New Jersey. Born on June 14, 1932, in Prince Edward County, Virginia, he was the beloved son of the late Scott and Blanche Webster.

Tookie received his education through the Prince Edward County School District, laying a foundation for a life built on hard work and perseverance. He dedicated over 50 years as a forklift driver at Universal Manufacturers in Paterson, New Jersey, retiring with an unmatched legacy of dedication and integrity.

In 1968, Tookie married the love of his life, Bettie Ann Webster, and from that union, they welcomed their beloved son, Cleon Webster. Together, they built a life centered around love, faith, and family. Desiring to grow spiritually and serve God more fully, Tookie joined Christ Temple Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Robertson.

He later became a faithful and active member of Calvary Baptist Church, where his presence was felt deeply. Tookie wore many hats in the church: he was a Deacon, Trustee, Usher, Sexton, member of the Men’s Choir, and a committed van driver, faithfully transporting congregants on — a task he took great joy in. To know Tookie was to know someone who found peace in life’s simple pleasures. He loved long car rides, washing his vehicles, sitting on the porch, taking naps in his recliner and
spending time with his grandchildren, who were truly the joy and heartbeat of his life.

A proud grandfather and great-grandfather, he cherished every moment with them.
Tookie also had a soft spot for gospel music, traveling with his wife, and visiting buffets where good food and fellowship met. A true dog lover, Tookie’s favorite meal was a classic chili dog from Johnny - Hanges, and his favorite drink was always a good, hot cup of coffee.

Tookie leaves to cherish his memory his devoted sons: Cleon Webster (Shareatha) of North Haledon, NJ; Lawrence Webster of Passaic County, NJ; and Tony Coleman of Pamplin, VA. He is also survived by his brother, Ralph Webster of Paterson, NJ; grandchildren: Najeea James, Gloria James, Shadae Smith, Alexis Webster, Jordan Webster, Kewanda Lemon and Latisha Wilson; and his great- grandchildren: Emery Wilson, Londyn Wilson, Qasim Wilson and Kazohn Williams ; a host of nieces, nephews, and relatives to cherish his memories.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Bettie Ann Webster; their son, Ernest Coleman; his siblings, Leola Parker, James Webster, and Perkin Webster.

Tookie’s life will be honored with a funeral service at Calvary Baptist Church, 1144 Hendricks Road, Prospect, VA. He will be laid to rest at Calvary Baptist Cemetery.
Tookie was a man who didn’t need to be the loudest in the room to be heard — his kindness, dedication, and steady spirit spoke volumes. He was a pillar to his family and a quiet force in his community. His memory will live on in the stories shared, the values passed down, and the love that continues to ripple through generations.
Well done, good and faithful servant.
