Obituary For Deacon Robert Leroy Gregory

Robert Leroy Gregory, affectionately known and loved by many, was born on

August 14, 1942, in Washington, D.C., to the late George W. Gregory, Sr. and

Fannie Woodson Gregory. He peacefully transitioned from this life to his eternal

reward, leaving behind a legacy of faith, family, and service.

Robert was educated in the Buckingham County School System and later

dedicated 50 years of his life to working in that same system. He faithfully served

in multiple roles, including cafeteria manager, bus driver, and garage assistant.

He was also well-known in the community for his skills as a barber, bringing

confidence and comfort to all who sat in his chair.

On June 20, 1970, Robert was united in holy matrimony to Irma M. Holman,

and together they shared 54 years of enduring love and partnership.

At an early age, Robert accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He was

a faithful member of Bright and Morning Star Holy Church for many years,

where he served diligently in several ministries. He held the role of Chairman of

the Deacon Board and was Head of the Hospitality Ministry. His unwavering

dedication and hard work helped bring the vision of the new church building to

life. Robert will always be remembered for his fervent prayer life, humble spirit,

and his faithfulness through trials.

Robert was a man of family and fellowship. He deeply loved his family and

friends, often giving them funny and affectionate nicknames. He had a special gift

for cooking and is especially remembered for the delicious pizza he made during

his time in the school cafeteria.

Robert is survived by: his devoted wife, Irma M. Gregory; loving siblings,

Joseph Gregory (Mable), Waverly Gregory, Earl Gregory, James Gregory (Maxine),

Mary Bennett (William), Ann Gregory, Barbara Bethea, and Sharon Knight (Ross);

sisters-in-law, Florence Gregory, Diane James (Carl), Mary Holman, and Gertrude
