Obituary For Doris Mitchell Bolden

oris M. Bolden, daughter of the late Adolphus and Margaret Cain Mitchell, was born January 29, 1929 in New Rochelle, New York. She peacefully entered eternity on February 27, 2025 from The Woodland in Farmville, Virginia.

At an early age, she found the Lord, and joined Chief Cornerstone Baptist Church in Dillwyn, Virginia. Years later, she joined her husband, Zeanie Edward Bolden, and transferred her membership to Zion Baptist Church in Dillwyn, Virginia. Doris served faithfully, doing God’s work, until her health began to decline. Over the years, she served as President of the Missionary Board, Usher Board, Hospitality Committee, Nurses Unit, Pastor’s Aide and Food Committee. She was always willing to work wherever she was needed in the church. She also enjoyed serving with other Christian organizations outside the church to make a difference in the community. She lived her life trying to be a good and faithful servant. Doris would help anyone in need. Doris was a strong woman of faith, who always put God first in her life. She raised her children in church and taught them to be faithful, serving the Lord.

Doris was educated in the Buckingham County Public School System and continued her education at Southside Virginia Community College, where she obtained a Nurse’s Aide Certificate and worked in the field for over forty years. Most of her clients were elderly patients who loved her dearly. She also worked on several other jobs to help support her family.

Doris married Zeanie Edward Bolden in 1947. Eight children were born to this union. In addition to her beloved husband Zeanie, Doris was preceded in death by: four sons, Edward, Clayton, Leon, and Curtis; and one brother, Gene Mitchell.

She leaves to cherish her memories: three daughters, Margaret Johnson (Shelton) of Dillwyn, Virginia, Diane Tindell (Nelson) of Arvonia, Virginia, and Gwendolyn Middleton of Farmville, Virginia; one son, George Bolden of Dillwyn, Virginia; three daughters-in-law, Sarita Bolden and Minnie Bolden, both of Dillwyn, Virginia, and Daisy Alosauz of Chesterfield, Virginia; twenty grandchildren; thirty-one great grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; and a very special friend, First Lady Connie Ross.
