Obituary For Dorothy Arlene Booker Peaks

A beautiful life came to rest on Sunday, January 5, 2025, at Chippenham Hospital in Richmond, Virginia when God sent his angels to guide Deaconess Dorothy Booker-Peaks to her divine home. She was born on August 16, 1936, in Prince Edward County, VA to the late John Thomas Booker, Sr., and Lucy Catherine Lee-Booker.

Mrs. Peaks truly loved the Lord and accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at a very early age. She became a faithful member of Oak Hill Baptist Church. She was also faithful to Second Liberty Baptist Church. She diligently and obediently served as: Choir member at Oak Hill and Second Liberty for over 60 years, Missionary Ministry at Oak Hill and Second Liberty, and Church Clerk at Oak Hill, for 24 years. She had great faith and loved the Lord with all her heart.

Mrs. Peaks attended the Prospect and Dillwyn schools. She was employed for over 32 years at various manufacturing corporations in Dillwyn, Farmville and Appomattox. She enjoyed using her sewing talents for family and friends. Her talent as a cook was phenomenal.

Her most requested dishes were: potato salad, potato casserole and coconut pies. She was a loving and patient wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and great-grandmother and was known for her gentle spirit and a heart filled with love. She was extremely caring and always opened her heart and home to those in need. She loved flowers. She was often found tending to her beautiful roses in the "Peaks Island."

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Deacon Howard Lee Peaks, Sr. of 32 years; two sons, Tyrone Peaks and Baby Boy Peaks (died in infancy); one daughter, Baby Girl Peaks (died in infancy); three brothers, John Booker, Joseph Booker and James Booker; dear daughter-in-law, Rosa Peaks; and dear sister-in-law, Mattie Patterson.

Mrs. Peaks leaves to cherish her precious memories: two sons, Howard Peaks, Jr., Vernon Peaks of Dillwyn, VA; two daughters, Geraldine Wade, Roselene Johnson of Dillwyn, VA; six grandchildren, Ricky Peaks of Dillwyn, VA, Shanelle Peaks of Florida, Contina Oliver (Myron) of Cumberland, VA, Shamika Peaks (Hosea) of Dillwyn, VA, Christopher Johnson of Pamplin, VA, Tyrone Johnson of Dillwyn, VA; three great-granddaughters, Alexis Peaks, Jasmine Peaks of Florida, Alana McDonald of Dillwyn, VA; one great-great-grandson, Jireh Jackson of Florida; two sisters, Ophelia Williams of Dillwyn, VA; Charlotte Patterson (Willie) of Dillwyn, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, and many cherished extended family members, and church members.
