Obituary For Dorothy Josephine Moseley
Dorothy Josephine Bloom Moseley, age 98, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 30, 2022. She was affectionately known as Dorothy, Momma, or Nana. She shared a lifetime of love with family, friends, and all that came in contact with her. Dorothy was born in Brooklyn, New York on March 3, 1924 to Charlie and Margaret Allen Bloom. She came to Virginia as an infant and was raised by her grandmother, Josephine Word. She attended Steven J. Ellis School in Dillwyn, Va. She was baptized at First Liberty Baptist Church as a child and continued as an active participant throughout her life. As one of the oldest members of First Liberty Baptist, she became known as the mother of the church. Dorothy fell in love with Levi Moseley as a teenager. They married in 1944 and enjoyed life together for 70 years. He preceded her in death in 2013. They were blessed with three children, Bernard, Cynthia, and an adopted son, Stanley. Dorothy and Levi later raised their grandson, Anthony Moseley, from birth and dearly cared for him as their son. Dorothy was a devoted wife and caregiver throughout her life. While small in stature, she was a strong role model who required respect. She enjoyed cooking and sharing meals with family, friends, and neighbors. She was known for her gardening skills and took pride in her vegetables and flowers. She enjoyed fishing and being outdoors. Momma (Nana) nurtured and lovingly raised four generations of the Moseley family. She leaves behind cherished memories and love for her children: Bernard Mosley (Marie) and Cynthia Lambert (Butch); three grandchildren, Anthony Mosley (Alberta), Todd Lambert (Brittany), and Keshia Hanna; seven great grandchildren, Daiquan Mosley (Kahla), Hanif Lambert, Tiara Lambert, Josh
Lambert, Mikayla Lambert, Devin Lambert, and Moyae Hanna: and her great- great granddaughter Karter Smith.
Mrs. Moseley spent the last 10 years in the comfort of her home with her grandson/caregiver, Anthony Mosley and great grandson, Daiquan Mosley. She loved to watch game shows. She enjoyed visits from family and friends in person and by phone. Recalling fond memories always brought smiles as they brightened her day. She looked forward to Sunday mornings when she would watch and listen to her son, Bernard, preach the Word of God from his church in Tennessee. In her final days, she was a resident of The Woodlands in Farmville where she was lovingly cared for by the staff. She will be remembered for her tender heart, kind spirit, bright smile and love for all. She leaves behind a lifetime of memories to cherish. Rest in peace dear Dorothy, Momma, Nana.
