Obituary For Dorothy L. Austin Bowling

Dorothy Austin Bowling peacefully departed this life on Wednesday, July 15, 2026. She was born on December 14, 1938, in Buckingham County, Virginia, to the late James Lawrence Austin and Emma Mariah Morris Austin.

She was preceded in death by her devoted and loving husband, James Alfred Bolling, Sr.; her parents, James Lawrence Austinand Emma Mariah Morris Austin; and her siblings, John Austin, Geraldine Austin, Charlie Lee Austin, Clarence Austin, Linwood Austin, Wylie Austin, Nora Austin, Florence Austin, Mary Louise McClean, and Lawrence Austin.

Dorothy attended Buckingham County Public Schools. Following graduation, she began her career as a caregiver, faithfully serving others for ten years. She later joined Michelin in Scottsville, Virginia, where she dedicated 30 years of service. Through hard work, determination, and leadership, she became a respected supervisor before retiring. Throughout her career, Dorothy earned the admiration of her colleagues and received numerous accolades for her exceptional work ethic, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to excellence.

At an early age, Dorothy accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and joined Warminster Baptist Church in Buckingham, Virginia. She remained a faithful and active member throughout her life, serving in numerous ministries and capacities within the church. She was also involved in several community and civic organizations and found great joy in participating in community events and supporting those around her.

Dorothy leaves to cherish her precious memory her devoted sons, Chris Bolling, Sr. of Buckingham, Virginia, and James Bolling, Jr.(Lolita Bolling) of Fluvanna County, Virginia. She also leaves five beloved grandchildren: Tiffany Jones, Chris Bolling, Jr., Patrick Scott, Janee Yerby (Terrell), and Keyara Bolling, who were a constant source of love and pride.

She is also survived by her loving sisters, Ella Alford of Norfolk, Virginia, and Emma Forbes of Buckingham, Virginia; her sisters-in-law, Cornelia Austin, Gola Austin, Lucille Bolling Glover, and Carrie Bolling Booker; and a host of cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever treasure her memory.

Dorothy's legacy of faith, hard work, kindness, and unwavering love for her family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
