Obituary For Edward Walker

Deacon Edward Leon Walker was born February 20, 1933, in Prince Edward County, Virginia to the late Theophilus and Parthena Davis Walker. Edward Walker departed this life at the Wayland Nursing home in Keysville, VA on February 8, 2023. He joined and served our country in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1961. He married Dorothy Walker in 1984 and he was a father to the six children. He confessed Christ as his personal savior, was baptized and joined Mount Moriah Baptist Church. He was ordained a deacon at the Mount Moriah Baptist Church. He transferred his membership to the Peaks Baptist Church. He was a deacon and member of the Peaks Baptist Church Male Chorus. He was a faithful member of the church. Edward worked and retired as a truck driver from Bryan Trucking Company. After retirement he was a bus driver for the local Farmville Town Bus, until he was 80 years old. His many talents and passion was wood craftsmanship; he made many crafts for family and friends. Edward was preceded in death by: his parents; daughter Pamela Walker; grandson, Dwayne Woodard; two brothers, Wilbert and Clyde; and three sisters: Doralean, Mable, and Marie. He leaves to cherish in memory: his wife, Mrs. Dorothy Walker of Farmville, VA; children, Sharon Woodard (MD), Iris Woodard (VA), Shirley Mayton (NY), John Woodard (MD), and Norman Woodard (VA); grandchildren: Monique Kyle, Valisha Mayton, Shonda Walbrook, Octavia Johnson (Chris), Brandon Lawson (Erika), Shanee Walker, Kye Walker, Zachary Woodard, Nathan Woodard, and Alisha Woodard; sister, Adele Walker (PA); aunt Anna Davis (VA); and a host of great grand-children, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
