Deacon Elbert Beasley, Jr. departed this life on March 10, 2024, from The Woodland Health and Rehabilitation Center in Farmville, Virginia. He was born July 17, 1931, to James Elbert Beasley and Georgia Saunders.

Elbert attended the public schools of Prince Edward County, VA. He joined Peaks Baptist Church at an early age, and remained a member until he moved to New London, Connecticut. There, he became a member of the Free Will Baptist Church of Groton, CT for 33 years, until he retired. He relocated back to Virginia and rejoined Peaks Baptist Church on December on December 22, 1999. He joined the Men’s Choir and was ordained as a Deacon in 2001.

On January 9, 1950, he was united in Holy matrimony to Cora Lee Perkins Beasley. They raised five children.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; his beloved wife; one sister, Martha Jane Gardner; four brothers, Alfred Beasley, Thomas Beasley, Joseph Beasley, Robert Beasley; one great granddaughter, LaShya Jackson. He leaves to cherish his memory: one son, James E. Beasley of Prospect, VA; four daughters, Clementine Hastie, Mary Green, and Alfrieda Beasley, all of New London, CT, and Gwenn McKenzie of Denver, Colorado; nine grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; eleven great-great grandchildren; special friend, Mary Saunders; family support, Ernestine Lee and Rosa Scott; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
