Obituary For Emma Jane Watson

Emma Jane Warren Watson passed away peacefully into the loving arms of her Heavenly Father on Friday, February 9, 2024. She was born on March 26, 1939 in Prince Edward County, Virginia to the union of Clem Warren and Amanda Johnson Warren.

At the age of 13, she accepted Christ at Zion Hill Baptist Church in Farmville, Virginia. Sister Watson attended Mary E. Branch Elementary School and Robert Russa Moton High School (now known as Prince Edward County High School).

Her work experiences include employment at Southside Community Hospital (now known as Centra Southside Community Hospital) as a housekeeper and, for many years as a private sitter in residences and nursing homes. During her membership at Zion Hill Baptist Church, Sister Watson served as a member of the Senior Choir, Deaconess Ministry and Missionary Ministry.

She enjoyed cooking, planting flower gardens, and other outdoor activities. She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Archer John Watson; sisters, Grace Warren Barksdale and Mattie Warren Dean; and brother Clem Warren, Jr.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her children, Francine Warren Baker (Samuel) of Rice, Virginia, Linda Watson Whitted (Maurice) of Petersburg, Virginia and Calvin Wayne Watson (Victoria) of Chester, Virginia; her grandchildren, Shawn Baker (Monica) of Richmond, Virginia and Nicholas Watson of Richmond, Virginia; step-grandchildren, Christian, Maria and Isabel Smith; twin great granddaughters, Simone & Sophie; step-great grandsons, Shaun and Joseph; a devoted sister-in-law/special friend, Anna Barksdale; other devoted special friends, Jo Smith and Reverend John Stokes, nieces, nephews, cousins and other special friends
