Obituary For Estell Blanton Patterson

Estell Blanton Smith Patterson, the daughter of the late Elijah Blanton and Ola Mae Hubbard, was bom in Cumberland County, Virginia on June 17,

1943. She was called to rest on Saturday, January 18, 2025, afler a short medical battle.

She accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age, and in 1993 was baptized by Rev. James Franklin, and became a member of the Sharon Baptist Church.

She resided in the New Jersey area for several years, but would often visit her home to visit with her family and friends. The locals would look forward to her visits and boast to her about how "well put together" Estell always was. She took great pride in her appearance and was often dressed to the nines'. She attributed her sense of style and fashion to her experiences and attendance at the Barbizon School of Modeling, in the 1970's.

Estell's educational background was extensive as well as her high levels of best, she also made sure that people knew she wasn't a "push-over", and had absolutely no problem speaking her mind to take up for herself. She would often advocate for others that were unable to speak for themselves.

Estell prided herself in her accomplishments and various endeavors; such as being a notary public in both New Jersey and Georgia. She completed the requirements to become a legal assistant through The First School of Secretarial & Paralegal Studies. Estell also successfully completed courses through the New Jersey Realty Institute to become a real estate salesperson.

Upon her return to Virginia, she served on the Local Human Rights Committee at Piedmont Geriatric Hospital, where in 2007, she was proud to have received the Outstanding Volunteer Award

During her 81 years of life, Estell was wedded three times, but often boasted that James Smith was the LOVE of HER LIFE. Until her demise, she always spoke so lovingly of James, and thought that the best part of passing on, would be seeing her Lord and Savior and being reunited with her first love.

Estell was preceded in death by her sisters Hattie B. Brown and June Saunders, and one brother Elijah Blanton, Jr. She is survived by three brothers, Tom Blanton, Jack Blanton and John Blanton one niece Sherena White, one great niece, Trocara White and one nephew, Ryan Saunders. She also leaves behind a host of other family members and dedicated friends.
