Florine Booker Haskins passed peacefully from this life on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at Centra
Hospital in Farmville, Virginia, at the age of 91, to her eternal home. She was surrounded by
love.
Florine was born on July 4, 1934, in Rice, Virginia, to the late Cecil and Hattie Booker. She
accepted Christ at an early age at Macedonia Baptist Church in Rice, Virginia and carried her
faith with her throughout her life.
Florine was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Hattie Booker; her children, Henry
Haskins Jr., Tracey Haskins, Michael Haskins and Sue Haskins Monroe; her grandsons, Tyrice
Haskins and Antonio Haskins; her siblings, Walter Booker, Freddie Booker, and Stella Louise
Booker; and her sister‑in‑law, Joann Booker.
She received her education through the Prince Edward County Schools system. She worked
faithfully throughout her life, including at Craddock‑Terry Shoe Factory, Levi Strauss, and
Walmart before retiring.
Florine was a devoted mother, grand-mother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister,
and aunt. She became known for her strength, wisdom, and deep love for her family. She was a
woman who stayed busy. Florine lived a life full of purpose, always giving whether caring for
her home, sharing stories of her favorite TV soap operas, or bringing loved ones together. She
found joy in life’s simple pleasures, including fishing, visiting yard sales, and being a familiar
face at County Line Market in Rice. Above all, she cherished every moment spent with those she
loved.
Over the years, Florine always made room for her family, pouring into each generation with her
love, her guidance, and her steady presence. She touched so many lives with her quiet strength
and resilience, and that same unwavering love will continue to live on through the family she
cherished.
She leaves to cherish her memory her loving daughter, Lisa Haskins of Crewe; her siblings,
James Booker, (Mattie) of New York, Etta Neal (David) of Burkeville, and Mary Banks
(Godfrey) of Farmville; 8 grandchildren; 21 great‑grandchildren; 3 great‑great‑grandchildren;
and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will forever hold her close in their
hearts.
