Frances Rosabelle Reid-Simpson
September 02, 1948 - June 26, 2025
Obituary For Frances Rosabelle Reid-Simpson
Frances Rosabelle Reid Simpson was born September 2, 1948, to the late
Frank Mason Reid and Lucille Wingfield Reid, in Buckingham County, Virginia.
She went to her eternal home on June 26, 2025 from the Charlottesville Health and
Rehabilitation Center in Charlottesville, VA. Frances attended Buckingham County Public Schools. She joined Salem Baptist
Church at an early age. This was the church her father was a member of and she loved
to please her father and follow in his footsteps. She lived in Buckingham County,
surrounded by family and friends, whom she truly loved. She held various jobs during
her lifetime. They included: factory worker, laundry worker, nanny, and housekeeper. She was quiet spoken, and a person of few words. She observed everything that
was going on around her, and then she would speak about it. She was looking and
listening even when others might not have noticed. Her hobbies included doing
word-find puzzles and reading novels. She also loved watching westerns and old
show like Perry Mason. She loved her family and was always concerned about them. Frances was preceded in death by: her late husband, James S. Simpson; a
son, Jamie S. Simpson; a sister, Lucille R. Reid; two brothers, James B. Reid and
Lawrence I. Reid; granddaughter, Crystal S. Simpson; brother-in-law, Walter
Scott, Jr.; brother-in-love, George “Joe” Turner; two nephews, Bradley L. Scott and
Charles Reid, Jr. and a niece, Janice L. Gough. She is survived by: her daughter, Verna M. Rush; two brothers, Charles R. Reid
(Connie) and Mitchell A. Reid; two sisters, Glendora Reid and Mary E. Scott; two
granddaughters, Valonda C. Rush and Amariana L. Cottrell; one great grandson,
Kaleb Gould; devoted friends, Alice Dowell, Leah Puryear, Patricia Rush Brooks,
and Mary Ayres; a host of other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends (all who
were dear to her heart).
