Obituary For Geneva Brown Sears
God, in His infinite wisdom, called our beloved Geneva Brown Sears to eternal rest on Friday, January 31, 2025, at her residence.
Geneva was born on June 10, 1939. to the late Emma and James Brown. She attended Luther P. Jackson Public School, Cumberland, Virginia. She was a faithful member of the Zion Baptist Church in Dillwyn, Virginia, until her health began to decline. She took much pride in being on the food committee, where she had the opportunity to serve her church family during Homecoming, sunrise services and other special events.
Geneva was known for being a great cook. Individuals would request many of her delicate desserts, such as her delicious Seven Up pound cakes, German Chocolate cakes, Sweet Potato Pies or her famous Potato Salad just to name a few. Her creations have traveled to many states, including Tennessee and Alabama.
On October 26, 1957, she was joined into holy matrimony to Roger Sears. Together, they raised their three children with much love. She was preceded in death by: her husband; her son, Calvin; and siblings, Archie Brown, Charlie Brown, Alberta Gray, Hubbard Brown, Sarah Washington, Rufus Brown and Betty Ann Shearn.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories: two daughters, Barbara Waller (Charlie) of West Orange, New Jersey and Delores Sears of Buckingham, Virginia; one grandson, Rashawn Riddick (Brittney); three adorable great-grandchildren, Jordan, Micah and Noah; one brother, William Brown (Gertrude) of Baltimore, Maryland; two sisters in-law; two devoted nephews, Robert Brown and Moses Gibson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
