Genevieve Watson, also known as Geneva or Gee, was born on December 26, 1930, to John Watson, Sr. and Mattie Anne Woodson Watson in Buckingham County, Virginia. She peacefully entered eternal life on March 24, 2023, from Heritage Hall Nursing home in Dillwyn, Virginia. Genevieve was the oldest of nine children, and accepted Christ at an early age. She was a life- long member of New Store Baptist Church in Buckingham County, Virginia. She was an active member until she was no longer able to participate due to illness. She attended Buckingham County Training School, and later moved to Paterson, New Jersey. While there, Genevieve began a life-long career as a seamstress in the textile industry, until retiring 1995. She continued her spiritual growth at Canaan Baptist Church and was a member of the Educational Committee. Genevieve returned to Buckingham County in 1996, but was not one to remain idle. She resumed working as a seamstress for 10 years at Southside Training, Employment and Placement Services (STEPS Inc.) in Farmville, until 2006. Genevieve was a quiet, unassuming person, with a humble spirit. She enjoyed, cooking, travel, music, but most importantly, spending time with family and friends. She always had a smile and was willing to share her blessings with others. Geneva was preceded in death by: her parents, John and Mattie Watson; her brother, John Jr.; and sister, Louise. Her love and many memories will forever remain in the hearts of those she leaves to celebrate her life: three sons, Irving, Lorenza, Sr. (Stephanie) and Vincent; grandchildren, Tyshawn, Acquan, Lorenza Jr. (Nicole) and Stephen (Oladebi); six great grandchildren; siblings, Earl, Martha, Loretta Gamble, Ellen, Lillian Frazier, Doretha; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
