Gilbert Garland Thompson affectionately known as “GT” departed this life early on January 15, 2021. He was born September 20, 1951; the first child to Deaconess Sarah Thompson and the late William Garland Thompson. Gilbert was educated in the Amelia County Public school system, where he attended Russell Grove High school, graduating in 1969. He then later attended Virginia State University, where he became a member of the Iota Phi Theta Fraternity Inc. As a small child he found the Lord. He attended Gravel Hill Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for many years, driving from Richmond several times a week.
