Obituary For Gladys Lucinda Braxton Banks

Gladys Lucinda Braxton Banks, daughter of the late Joseph Braxton
and Mary Lucy Reed Braxton, was born June 6, 1955 in Buckingham
County, Virginia. She departed this life on Monday, January 1, 2024 at
Chippenham Hospital in Richmond, Virginia.
She accepted Christ at an early age and joined Ridgeway Baptist
Church in Dillwyn. She spent her life caring for her children and
grandchildren. She became “Ma” to her nieces and nephews once she
lost her sisters. She loved fishing and spending time with her kids and
grandkids. Her favorite pastime was watching old westerns on TV.
She was united in holy matrimony to Bobby William Banks. This
union was blessed with three children. Bobby preceded her in death on
March 14, 2012.
Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Mary Braxton;
her brother, Bobby Braxton; three sisters, Mildred Joanne Braxton, Gayle
Yvette Braxton Winfree, and Sandra Diane Braxton; her son, Kevin
Antoine Banks; two nephews, Rahtaz Williams and Clarence Bobby Banks
(TT), a niece, Contrice Randolph Lopez, and the father of her eldest
daughter, Charles Arthur Anderson.
She leaves to cherish her memories, five daughters, Yolanda Banks,
Lakeisha Banks, Tyrensia Braxton, Tawanda Braxton and Lashaunda
Braxton; a son, James Braxton; three brothers, Frank Reed, Thomas W.
Braxton and Michael B. Braxton; special grandchildren, JaQwala Jones,
JaKaia Jones, JaBari Jones, Jadius Winfree, Kenadi Banks, Zaiden Brown,
Abraham Braxton, Abrianna Sanchez, and Artiz Williams. Her additional
children are Tosha Winfree, Jeremiah Winfree, Jerry Winfree and James
Winfree; three aunts, Elizabeth Chambers, Beatrice Reed and Frances
Foster; a close friend, Mary Anderson; and a host of relatives and friends.
