Obituary For Glendora Kanice "Kay" Spradley

On Wednesday morning, May 25, 2022 our beloved sister, niece, cousin, and friend, Glendora Kanice Spradley (Kay) quietly left her earthly home in Richmond, Virginia. Kay was born July 1, 1978 to the late Caleb and Elizabeth Spradley in Farmville, Virginia. At an early age, Kay joined Beulah AME Church and remained a member until she moved to Forestville, Maryland. While at Beulah, Kay was a member of the children’s choir and engaged in other activities at the Church. She enjoyed repeating the communion words and was often spoken to by her mother for saying, “Oh Merciful Father,” in which we all still laugh about until this day. Kay received her education from both Prince Edward County Public schools and Cumberland County Public schools where she graduated from in June, 1998. Kay played basketball for Cumberland County High School where she received numerous awards and trophies for player of the game, player of the week, or 2nd team All-District. She was also acknowledged for her outstanding work in the child care program and was recognized as ‘Student of the Year.’ While living in Maryland Kay worked for several establishments prior to working for PSI Family Services as a residential assistant for adults with developmental delays. Kay was most recently employed by Envoy of Westover Hills Rehabilitation Center as a cook until her untimely passing. She was truly loved and is missed by all the residents whom she served and interacted with daily, especially Mr. Cherry, along with her supervisors, co- workers, nurses and aides. Kay is the individual who is hard to forget. For her encounter with you will be everlasting. She loved and adored her family and friends. Kay shared and spoke from her heart and her love was real. Not only did she impact the lives of each and every adult, but the children she cared for, whether they were family or not, have and are impacted by her loss. Only she could touch the life of the young and old the way she did.
