Obituary For Glenn Dale Haddix

Glenn Dale Haddix, age 90, died September 7, 2023 at his home in Dillwyn, Virginia. Glenn was born March 27, 1933 in Elkins, West Virginia to Ralph and Amy (Folks) Haddix. As a child, his mother ensured that he knew the word of God and that he accepted Jesus Christ as his savior at an early age.

Glenn received his education in Elkins before joining the United States Marines. Upon returning home, he had various jobs but his love was Glenn’s Lawn & Garden Equipment in Falls Church, Virginia. International Harvester recognized Glenn’s business as the 1977 District Retail Champion Cub Cadet Sales. He was also recognized as the Regional Top Performer with the highest number of units sold. He sold and serviced lawnmowers to the White House and his dear friend, Astronaut John Herschel Glenn Jr. He worked for United States Parcel Services before opening another business, Business Central Surplus Sales, which he operated until 2017. He was very proud of his work, especially the fellowship hall that he added onto the Oakwood United Methodist Church.

In 2004, he met the love of his life, Grace. They were married in 2007. Glenn was preceded in death by his parents , Ralph and Amy Haddix; son, Grant Haddix; brothers, Ray Haddix, Rev. Terrill Haddix, Rev. Carl Haddix, Arden Haddix, Elmer Haddix and Verle Haddix.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife of 16 years, Grace Haddix; brother, Bruce Haddix of Elkins, West Virginia; sister, Iris Cutright of Elkins, West Virginia; three children, Amy Cummings, Earl Haddix and Stephanie Naves; mother in law, Grace Chambers; stepson, Carlos Chambers, sister in law, Brenda Harper; three brothers in law, Wilbur Chambers, Charles Chambers and Thomas Chambers; Special Nephew, Dwight Haddix; grandchildren; great grandchildren; two special friends, Luke Fleshman and Mike Holden; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Special thanks to The James Hospice for all the help and love given to Glenn. Also special thanks to Will, Bridgette, Kristy Booker and Mark Chambers.
