Howard Lawrence was born on July 20, 1945 to the late Leo and Dorothy Lawrence. This much-loved husband, father, grandfather and good friend departed this world on Friday, February 26, 2021 at Johnson-Willis Hospital in Richmond, Virginia. With a big heart and joyous spirt, you were always sure to have a good laugh around him. Howard was a hard-worker and it showed in everything that he did and touched. He was ready to lend a helping hand to others and never looked for anything in return. He was preceded in death by: his father, mother, two brothers (Charles Jr. and John Lawrence) and three sisters (Mary and Louise Lawrence and Janet Mason). Howard leaves behind a loving and dedicated wife of 54 years, Onie B. Lawrence, known to him as “Skeeter and his Boo.” Anyone that knew him knew that he said Skeeter was the boss and they knew that he loved her just as much as she loved him. Howard was an amazing father of three strong women: Sheri, Buffey and Tonika. Their father showed them how to not depend on anyone by teaching them the value of hard work and the true meaning of being humble. He exemplified to them how a good father and man should treat a woman and made it hard for any man to live up to. Howard also leaves behind five lovely grandchildren, Banetra, Krystale, Jazsmine, T.J. and Dajah. Howard also leaves: a sister, Brenda Lawrence; five sisters-in-law, Annie Marie, Trenna, Mattie, Nellie and Mildred; seven brothers-in-law, Earl, Charlie “Tom”, George, Walter, Leon, James and Willie; and a host of nieces and nephews, especially Rodney. Howard will be remembered by his joyous spirit and big heart that made everyone laugh. Leaving behind a footprint that will never be forgotten, Howard will truly be missed.
