India Anna Spraggs Redd, daughter of the late James Fletcher and Estelle Jones Spraggs, was born in Prince Edward County, Virginia on January 22, 1928. She departed this life on Saturday, February 12, 2022, at her home in Farmville, VA. She was the youngest of nine children, all of whom preceded her in death. She confessed the Lord Jesus Christ at an early age and joined Mercy Seat Baptist Church. She was a dedicated, loyal and faithful member of the Usher Board, Missionary Ministry and Hospitality Committee. She graduated from Robert Russa Moton High School and received a degree from Saint Paul’s Polytechnical Institute. She worked as an Instructional Aide in Prince Edward County Public School System for many years. She was joined in holy matrimony to Lawrence Redd in 1949, this union lasted 66 years. To this union five children were born. One son, Lawrence Donald Redd, preceded the couple in death. She was a loving, devoted mother, grandmother (GaGa) and great- grandmother. She leaves to cherish her memory: three daughters and one son, Jean Redd, Stella Brown (Paul), Carlton Redd (Adrienne) of Farmville, VA, and Lorraine Bishop (David) of Midlothian, VA; five grandchildren; Timothy Darnell Brown (Ruth), Jessica Brown, Amanda Redd, Aijuel Redd of Farmville, VA, and Lamont (Sarah) Redd of Henrico, VA; one great- grandchild; De’Jane’ Brown; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
