Isabel Scott Wright was born October 8, 1930 in Prospect, Virginia to the
late Thomas Henry and Hettie Booker Scott. She went home to be with the Lord
on December 6, 2024, joining her parents, her five sisters, Inez Gaines, Odoris
Brown, Evelyn Hix, Avis Hix and Lorene Jones, her two brothers, Alfred Scott and
Thomas Scott and son Marvin Payton Watson in eternity.
Isabel attended school in Prospect, Virginia and with her family, was a faithful
member of Peaks Baptist Church in Prospect until her relocation to Neptune and
Asbury Park, New Jersey.
Isabel continued her education in NJ and enjoyed a career as a Nurse’s Aide for
many years before retiring from Medicenter in Neptune, NJ. While in New Jersey,
Isabel was a faithful and dedicated member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church where
she sang in the choir.
In 1992, after retirement, Isabel returned to Prospect, VA and rejoined Peaks
Baptist Church. once again singing in the choir. In 2014, Isabel relocated to
Lexington, KY and then to Jackson, TN to be near her son and his family. Isabel
was lovingly well cared for and made wonderful friends who adored her sweet spirit
along the way. Calls and visits from family and friends always brought a smile to
her face.
In addition to singing gospel, Isabel loved cooking and baking for the family. There
was always a good meal and/or an apple pie served up when anyone stopped by her
house. Her strawberry preserves and apple butter were a specialty! She also loved to
crochet and gifted many with her crocheted blankets and crafts.
She leaves to carry on her legacy of love, kindness and generosity, a loving son and
daughter-in-law, Dr Theodore Scott Wright, his wife Saskia, 2 grandsons, Felix
and Oliver, all of Jackson, TN, niece Michele Hix Mosby of Pamplin, VA, and her
husband Wardell, whom she raised after the passing of her sister Evelyn, and a host
of other nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and friends.
