Obituary For Ivan Lewis Thompson

On Sunday, November 26, 2023, God, in his infinite wisdom, called Ivan Lewis Thompson home to be
with His eternal family. Ivan was born on May 20, 1955, to Lewis C. and Florence C. Thompson in Prince
Edward County, Virginia. He accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age. Ivan graduated from Highland
Springs High School in 1973. After high school, he joined the U.S. Marines Corp, where he was an aircraft
mechanic with an honorable discharge in 1978. He worked at the U.S. Postal Service in custodial maintenance
for 30 years, until he retired due to his health.
Ivan was a very humble, quiet person. He loved to joke around, full of laughter and would have a good
chuckle. No matter what the circumstances were, he would always have a smile or a tickling laugh about the
smallest thing.
Ivan loved being around his family and friends. And if there was food involved, he was sure to bring extras
to make sure everyone went home with happy bellies and leftovers for days. Ivan loved “Toosies” lasagna, peach
cobbler and a good ole pound cake. Not to forget his annual fruit cake around the holidays. He would always
ask, “What’s on the menu?”. He will truly be missed.
Ivan was preceded in death by: his father, Lewis C. Thompson; mother, Florence C. Thompson; and
sister, Gail K. Thompson. He leaves to cherish his precious memories: his loving and devoted wife of 40 years,
Ahwasta Thompson; two loving children, Atiya E. Thompson and Christopher “SPUD” Thompson (Quiona);
two very special grandsons, Benjamin J. Thompson and Bennie L. Perry III, whom he was very proud of; his
special four-legged family, Travis, Tanner and Oreo. He also leaves: a brother, Kenneth E. Thompson; two
sisters, Renee Agard and Crystal Thompson; sisters-in-law, Gaila Thompson, Patricia Dewes, Sabrina Fullwood
and Deborah Fullwood; one uncle, Earl Christopher; two aunts, Mary Elaine Gerald and Sarah Thompson;
and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
