Obituary For James Edward Jenerette
James Edward Jenerette was born November 11, 1941, in
Hemmingway, South Carolina to Enis and Albertha
Mention Jenerette. He had eight siblings- five sisters and three
brothers. On November 6, 2023, James, age 81,
slipped into eternity from the Heritage Hall Nursing Home of Dillwyn,
Virginia.
James worked in the tobacco and cotton fields, and on various farms
in South Carolina, until he moved to New York
for a better living. While working in New Rochelle Hospital, he met
Miss Margaret Gibson. They married and had three
children: Diane, Monica Felicia, and Daniel Marcus. Daniel passed a
week after he was born.
He then went to work for Mutual Biscuit, a cookie distribution
warehouse, as a night shift manager for many years. His last place
of employment was as a maintenance worker in Tibbetts Park in
Yonkers, NY. He worked there for three years until he had
a stroke. He then retired and moved to Buckingham County, Virginia.
He is survived by: his wife, Margaret Jenerette; his eldest daughter,
Diane Jenerette; one sister, Mrs. Francis Wilson; two brothers,
Enis “Lee” Jenerette, Jr. (Tina) and William Jenerette; five sisters-in-
law and three brothers-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews,
other relatives and friends.
