James Edward Marshall was born February 5, 1950, to the late Willie Marshall and Rosa Booker. He departed this life at his residence in Farmville, Virginia, on March 19, 2025.

James accepted Christ as his personal savior at an early age and joined the Gravel Hill Baptist Church. He attended Nottoway Public Schools where he received his education. He worked for the Burkeville Veneer Plant, Holly Farm, and Tyson Foods where he drive truck for many years.

James enjoyed singing. He sung tenor for a few gospel groups. In James’ spare time, he loved to DJ. He enjoyed playing his music on the weekends among his family and friends when he wasn’t working. He was also a good artist. He would draw beautiful pictures and he really enjoyed spending quality time with his children, grandchildren, great children and other family members.

James was preceded in death by: his parents Willie and Rosa Marshall; and his great grandchild, Amari Marshall.

James leaves to cherish his loving memory: his children, Robert Marshall, Tyrone Marshall (Sharon) and Anita Johnson; grandchildren, Nakia Johnson, Taykia Marshall, Daquan Marshall, Desray Shriver (Marcus), Aa’nyhil Marshall and Makayla Marshall; great grandchildren, Nehaeh Marshall, Natrell Marshall, Kamon Marshall, ZayQuan Marshall, Demyah Marshall, Azariyah Marshall, Harmoni Shriver, and Major Shriver; brothers, Roy and Jennings Marshall; sisters, Janet Anderson and Diane Marshall; special friends who meant alot to him, Javor Harris, Vincent Gordon Jr. and Ashley Chambers; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
