Phillip Goode departed this life on Wednesday, June 30, 2020 at his home in Prospect, Virginia surrounded by family and friends. Phil, or Goode, as he was lovingly called, was born on January 15, 1955 to James and Otelia Lockett Goode in Farmville, VA. Phil spent the majority of his childhood with his grandparents, Leonard and Alma Lockett, in Appomattox County, VA. At an early age Phil was baptized and joined Peaks Baptist Church, where he remained a member until his death. He enjoyed playing baseball and football, but football was where he excelled. After graduating Appomattox County High School in 1973, he worked in the private sector for a few years, then joined the United States Army, where he honorably served his country for six years. Upon leaving the military, Phil returned home. In 1982, he started working for Norfolk and Southern Railroad, where he worked for 34 years as a laborer and machine operator. When not working, he loved to hunt, fish and watch his Raiders. His most favorite pastime was grilling and spending time with his family and friends.
