Obituary For James Samuel Edmonds

On May 26, 1937, James Samuel Edmonds was born to the late
Perry and Alberta Edmonds in Buckingham County. He
accepted Christ at an early age, joining Ridgeway Baptist
Church of Dillwyn, Virginia. On January 5, 2024, James
departed this life at his home on earth to be with our Lord and
Savior in his new heavenly home.
James moved to Washington D.C during his teenage years to
pursue a work career. It was there that he united in marriage.
Though relocated, he never lost his ties with his Buckingham
family. Throughout the years in D.C and Maryland, he was a
dedicated worker, and especially proud of his CDL license that
landed him a career driving 18 wheelers until retirement after
43 years.
In 2003, he said he was tired of the city life and moved back to
Buckingham where he could enjoy his retirement in the country
with his family and friends. He loved his family in Maryland, as
well as Buckingham. He was loved by everyone who knew him.
James was preceded in death by: his wife, Constance; his
parents; one son, James Ronald; two sisters, Dorothy (Walter)
and Ruth (Lee); two brothers, Johnny Mack and Perry Edmonds;
and one dear friend, James Patterson.
He leaves to cherish his memories: two daughters, Janice D.
Holden ( Adrian) of Suitland, Maryland and Mary Linda Brown

(Governor) of Dillwyn, Virginia; four grandchildren; six great-
grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; sister in law,

Emma Edmonds; one special friend, Otis Anderson; his ride or
die whom he treated like a daughter, Debbie Patterson; friends,
Cora Lee Perkins, Kathy Moseley and many others; and a host
of nieces, nephews, family, and friends. Special thanks to his
barber, Quincy Bowles.
