Obituary For Jason Charles Watkins

Jason Charles Watkins entered eternal rest unexpectedly on Friday, August 4, 2023, at his home in Norfolk, Virginia.

Jason was born on May 21, 1979, in Chesterfield, Virginia. He was the oldest of three children born to Charles D., and Bernetta Stiff Watkins.

Jason graduated with honors from Prince Edward County High School in May 1997 and attended Hamden Sydney College. While attending school, Jason participated in JROTC, played little league, J V and Varsity football, played trumpet, and was an active Boy Scout. He was referred to the talented and gifted program (TAG) after completion of kindergarten.

Jason relocated to Norfolk, Virginia in 2002. He was a dedicated and skillful employee in the cable television industry. His most recent employment was with Baker Installation for the past 17 years.

As a teen, he professed his faith in Jesus Christ, was baptized and became a member of the Triumph Baptist Church. He was active as a member of the youth choir, regularly attended Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. He remained active while living in the area.

Jason was a kind, generous and caring person with a keen sense of humor. He was extremely intelligent and often engaged in lively discussions and debates with his family and friends. He often jokingly said “I have a head full of useless knowledge.” He was an avid sports fan and could easily quote facts and figures about the various players and teams. He was a staunch Pittsburg Steelers fan but was ready to dismiss them if they were having a bad season. He also enjoyed fishing, video games, photography and was a gun enthusiast. His most recent accomplishment was cooking and preparing new and unusual dishes. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.

Memories of Jason will be shared by his survivors who include: his parents, Charles and Bernetta Watkins; a sister, Thea N. Williams of Chesapeake, Virginia, a brother, Joshua S. Watkins of Prospect, Virginia; a niece, Imri J. Williams; a nephew, Titus S. Watkins; five aunts, Edith W. Scott, Magdalene W. Johnson, Catherine A. Scott, Elzora G. Stiff, Claudette S.
