Jeannette Johnson Calloway entered eternity on May 29, 2026,
from Lynchburg General Hospital in Lynchburg, Virginia. She
was born December 22, 1943 in Schuyler, VA, to William Taft
Johnson and Charlotte Pearl Simpson Johnson.
Jeannette was baptized and joined St. Joy Baptist Church at an
early age. She received her education in the Staunton Public
School System.
She later moved to Washington, DC where she met and married
Mr. Carl Calloway. In Washington, Jeannette worked in a hotel
as the supervisor of the housekeeping department. She later
returned to Schuyler to live after her retirement.
While she had no children of her own, she truly loved her nieces
and nephews. She was also instrumental in caring for her some
of her sick relatives.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, William and
Charlotte Johnson; her husband, Carl Callaway; and two
brothers, George Simpson and William T. Johnson.
She leaves to cherish: one sister, Dorothy Clark; special nieces
and nephew, Joyce Clark, Julian Clark, and Katie “ReeRee”
Swinnie; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, and
friends.
