John Curtis Allen, known as Curtis, was born on June 16, 1960, in Gary, Indiana to the late John Herbert Allen and Catherine Mcivor Irving. Curtis departed this life after a short illness to be with The Most High on Sunday, December 3, 2023.

Curtis was a talented athlete who excelled in football, basketball, and track and field. In fact, he was named National All-Around Athlete during his time in high school. He continued his love for sports while attending Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, where he played football and also joined the Omega Psi Phi organization. After his education, Curtis went on to have a career as a player for the NFL New York Giants franchise.

In addition to his athletic achievements, Curtis had a passion for meticulous work. He enjoyed various jobs, including security, marblework, and carpentry. In his spare time, Curtis enjoyed studying the Bible, finding solace and inspiration within its pages. His family and friends remember him as a passionate, humorous, and intelligent individual.

Curtis is survived by his children, Jnai C. Allen, Juanita C. Allen, Jazzlyn C. Allen, Jonquell C. Allen, and Nina C. Allen. He also leaves behind four beloved grandchildren: Kariyon, Geovanni, Royalty, and Zavaiya. Curtis was preceded in death by his parents, John H. Allen and Catherine M. Allen, as well as his siblings: Diane L. Allen, Eileen D. Biddings, Patrick J. Ablack Jr, Wendell T. Ablack, and Don Allen.

Friends and family are invited to honor Curtis's life at Reid's Funeral Home in Dillwyn, Virginia.

Curtis will be deeply missed by all who know him. May his soul rest in peace.
