2 Timothy 4:7

Larry W. Toney entered eternal rest on November 2, 2023. He was born on June 9, 1947 in Buckingham, Virginia to the late Louvinia Gough Toney and David Jessie Toney. He was preceded in death by his brothers Jessie, Raymond, John and Junior Toney and sisters Virginia "Christine" Toney, Shirley Toney and Dorothy Anderson.

Larry joined Ebenezer Baptist Church at an early age. He attended Buckingham County Public Schools. Larry worked in logging industry until his health prevented him from doing so.

Larry was a world of knowledge for his family and friends. He could tell you anything you needed to know about family history and life. Larry shared a passion for music and found solace in listening to his favorite artist Bobby Womack and Sam Cooke. Larry always had a joke or a sassy response ready for anyone in conversation. Larry enjoyed spending time out-doors, visiting family and conversing with anyone who he en-countered. Larry may be remembered vividly for his favorite quote "Cigarette please!"

He leaves to cherish his memories a devoted niece Rashonda Taylor, his wife Bertha Toney of Dillwyn, VA, two children, Shirley Smith (Kendall) of Louisa, VA and Ethel Toney of Dill-wyn, VA, five grandchildren, Cortez Smith, Tiffany Smith Brown, Kendrick Smith, Kendra Smith and Sherita Smith and five great children, one loving and devoted sister, Helen Toney of Scottsville, VA, several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, two aunts Louise Perkins of Buckingham, VA and Julia Gough of Scottsville, VA and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Larry also has two very special nieces that he enjoyed spending time with Talayshia Glover and Louise Eubanks.
