Lewis Hicks, Jr. was born August 13, 1952, in Prince Edward
County, Virginia, to Lewis and Rosa Vaughan Hicks. He quietly
transitioned into eternity from MCV/VCU Medical Center in
Richmond, VA, on January 2, 2024.
Lewis received his education through the Prince Edward
County Public Schools. At an early age, he confessed Christ as
his Savior, was baptized, and became a member of Bethel Grove
Baptist Church in Rice, VA.
Professionally, Lewis was a truck driver W.C. Newman
Cement Company for many years. He was a fantastic father, who
loved fishing, basketball, baseball, and football, especially watching
his favorite team, the Dallas Cowboys.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Rosa and Lewis
Hicks, Sr.; two sisters, Yolanda Woods and Brenda Jenkins;
and a brother-in-law, Robert Jenkins. He leaves to cherish his
memory: his loving wife, Darlene Wardell Hicks; children, Sabrina
Evans (Tim), Steven Hicks (Phoebe), Selena Smith, Lewis
Hicks, III (April), and Robefordney Thomas (Shellie); fourteen
grandchildren; mother-in-law, Alberta C. White; father-in-law,
Phillip Lee White; brothers-in-law, Paul Woods, Leroy Wardell
(LaShonda), Luther White (Pamela); special friends, Elvis Moore
and Charles Irving; his loving dog, Lucky; and a host of other
relatives and friends.
