Obituary For Lexie Sprague Jr.
Lexie Sprague Jr, of Rice, VA unexpectedly departed this life on Friday, November 3, 2023 at the age of 71. He was born on September 13, 1952 to the late Lexie Sprague Sr, and Lottie Bernice Sprague of Prince Edward County, VA.
Lexie attended and graduated from Prince Edward County Public Schools in 1974. After high school, Lexie worked at a variety of jobs. He worked and eventually retired from Buckingham Correctional Center in 2009. He later worked for Piedmont Senior Resources and retired a second time in February 2023.
As a symbol of dedication to Jehovah, Lexie was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in July 2013. He thoroughly enjoyed studying the Bible, and going out in field service to talk to others about God’s Kingdom. In addition to this, Lexie also enjoyed working in the yard and watching the Green Bay Packers play football. Many friends and family admired Lexie due to his very quiet and humble nature and also his willingness to help others when in need. He will be missed dearly.
He was preceded in death by three sisters Mary Streat, Cynthia Meadley, and Frances Sprague, who died at birth. He was also preceded in death by one brother, James Sprague, and one son, Angelo Harvey.
He leaves to cherish his memory a loving wife, Shirley Elaine Sprague of 38 years. Two children, Lexie Sprague IV and Destinee Sprague. Four grandsons, Antwoin, Antonio, O’Shawn, and Cameron. One brother, Thomas Sprague, and three sisters Rosa Lee (Robert), Bertha Spigner (Gerald), and Deloris Carr, (Ronald), and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who he dearly loved and cared for.
