Lillie Mae Watson born to the late Roosevelt and Mary Forbes, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, January 23, 2026.

Lillie was preceded in death by her husband, two sons, a brother and a

sister.

Lillie grew up on a farm and worked very hard alongside her family,

performing various chores from picking tobacco, to cutting timber.

Over the years she learned many skills, sewing, farming, cooking, and

the proper way to make hot cocoa; with milk (not water).

She was adept at many things. She was often asked to bake cakes,

cookies, and pies for fundraisers for the church and school.

She would make clothing alterations for people in the community; she made choir robes and all the uniforms for the junior usher board. Lillie made lofty quilts for her husband when he traveled north while working during the winter months. Lillie made special costumes for her children to n participate in the 1976 bicentennial celebration at the school. She even made a bridesmaid gown, dresses, socks, and lingerie for a baby doll.

Lillie was a meticulous housekeeper; had to be spic and span. She had a budget that only allowed for grocery shopping once a month! Her checkbook was always to the penny.

Lillie leaves behind a brother, Hursel (Katie), a sister Penny, a son Rodney, a daughter Pauletta, grandsons John (Courtney), Rico, Preston, Rodney, five great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
