On Friday, May 9thth, God claimed one of his greatest gifts, Lisa Roxanne Cosby.
She was the 3rd eldest child born to the late Fred Cosby Sr. and Charlotte Brown
Cosby. Lisa was a beloved mother, grandmother, and a sibling.
She was born on August 24, 1963, in Newark, New Jersey. She was a member of
Green Creek New Site Baptist Church of Farmville, Virginia. She had an associate
degree in child development.
She loved and cherished her family and friends and was always considered the life of
the party. All the kids loved her. You would hear her always saying “Ain’t no crying in
baseball”, “The Champ is Here”, “Beautiful”, “God is good all the time”, “Amen” and a
host of other sayings. She gave many of her nieces and nephews nicknames.
She was survived by: one daughter, Crystal Cosby; and one grandson, Isaiah Cosby;
four siblings, Fred Cosby Jr., Kevin Cosby, Wanda Cosby, and Thaddeaus Cosby; two
aunts, Sarah Moses-Womack and Barbara Daniels; and one uncle, Thurman Womack.
She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. There are too many to
name, but they were deeply loved. One sister, Deborah McMeans-Hooker, proceeded
her in death. I know the two sisters are enjoying themselves laughing and gossiping.
