Obituary For Louise Stanton Ross

On September 30, 2023, Mrs. Louise Stanton Ross departed this life at the Center for Acute Hospice Care, in Charlottesville, Virginia.
Louise was born June 6, 1936 in Buckingham County to George M. and Cassie L. Stanton. She was the oldest girl of fourteen children.
Louise accepted Christ, was baptized, and joined Baptist Union Baptist Church, in Dillwyn, Virginia at an early age. Even though she did not occupy a pew every Sunday, she knew, loved and praised God. She attended school for a brief period before leaving to help her parents raise her siblings.
At the age of fifteen, Louise met and married Mr. Rubin Eldridge and during this union, one son was born. They relocated to New York for a short period before she and Roger moved back to Virginia. After returning to Virginia, she met and married Mr. Edward Ross Sr., and to their union, eight children were born.
Louise was a proud and hard working “domestic engineer” for many years and worked in several restaurants as a cook and waitress. She
took pride in her plants and flowers. She had what is known as a “green thumb”. Before her health began to fail, she would always dress her table with great food to eat, and eat we did. Because she was such a good cook, often people would have her to bake and cook something to share with their families.
Louise was preceded in death by: her parents, George and Cassie Stanton; her husband, Edward Ross, Sr.; two sons, Roger Eldridge and Alvin Sylvester Ross; one unnamed daughter; three sisters; four brothers; and two nephews. She leaves to cherish her memories: two daughters, Edna R. Perkins and Ethel R. Mayo (Raymond); four sons, Edward C., Lester A., Robert L. (Shelly), and Lewis G. Ross; six granddaughters; fifteen grandsons; eight granddaughters in-law; one grandson in-law; one foster grandson; two sisters; four brothers; a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. She also thought highly of her ex-son and daughters-in-law. Special thanks to Natalie Ross, for all you did.
