Obituary For Lucille Holman

Lucille Holman departed this life on Monday, March 18, 2024. She was born in Buckingham County, Virginia on April 28, 1943 to Oscar and Mamie Harris Holman. She was the first of nine children. She was predeceased by: her parents, her brother, John Holman, and son Allen Holman.

Lucille was educated in Buckingham County Public Schools and at an early age, was baptized and joined Ridgeway Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Mary A. Miles Helping Hands Ministry at Oak Grove Baptist Church.

Lucille was self-employed as a domestic worker until her retirement at the age of 80. She was loved by everyone who came in contact with her. She loved going camping with her life partner of 50 years and extended family. She also loved gardening and feeding the hummingbirds as well as the animals that strayed into the backyard.

Lucille was known for her potato salad. In her lifetime, she made a lot of potato salad...Sunday dinners, church functions, birthday parties, family reunions, and holiday gatherings.

Lucille was humble and had immense love for others. Her biggest passion was taking care of her family that included making sure her nieces and great-nieces got on the school bus. She could be counted on to provide a “helping hand”, her time and finances.

Lucille leaves to cherish loving memories: Her loving and devoted life partner of 50 years, Samuel L. Ford; one daughter, Lisa Holman; two sons, Nelson Bartee and Robert L. Holman (Desiree); four sisters, Anna Richardson (Robert), Ethel Logan (Willie), Mildred Holman, and Adrianne Holman; three brothers, Richard Holman (Sylvia), Michael Holman (Priscilla), and James Holman (Josephine); sister-in-law, Marlen Holman; eight grandchildren; ten great-grand children; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many many friends in particular, Carrie Dove and Karen Perry.
