Mable Louise Gibson was born December 5th, 1932 in Buckingham,
Virginia to George Watts and Bertha Harris Watts. She went to be with the Lord
on Friday, November 17, 2023.
Mable was a member of Alexandria Baptist Church and attended Jerusalem
Baptist Church.
Mable began her education at Cartersfield Elementary and completed her
education at Buckingham Training School. After completing school she moved to
Wilmington, Delaware. In 1956, Mable married Henry Gibson, Sr. and together
they were blessed with three children. After moving back to Buckingham Mable
went on to be a caregiver in her professional and personal life. Throughout life,
she worked as a cafeteria aide, a housekeeper and caregiver. She loved spending
time with family. She cherished her grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Mable
enjoyed watching pro wrestling and game shows as her past time.
Mable was proceeded in death by: her parents, Bertha and George; siblings,
Alexander Watts, George Watts Jr, and Emmanuel Watts; nieces, Vivian
Matthews and Mildred Tiller; nephews, Robert Watts, Ernest Watts and Thomas
Watts; grandchildren, Henry “Slugger” Gibson, III and Senita Handy.
She leaves to cherish her memory: one surviving sibling, Amanda Webb
(Sylvester); her children, Henry Gibson Jr (Cynthia), Carl Gibson (Annette),
Althea Gibson; grandchildren, Dischelle Jackson, Michelle Jackson, Latisha
Gibson (Tyron), Robert Price, Purnell Gibson (Nina), Jhonita “Tootie” Ervin,
Tanisha Gibson, Darnell Gibson (Sarah), Me’nell Gibson (Christopher), Isaiah
Gibson, Steven Gibson, and Tyna Gibson; a host of great grandchildren, great
great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family and friends. In her later years in life,
Mable lived with her niece Marcia Webb, whom she shared a special bond.
