Obituary For Mamie Kent-Simmons Eppes

TIME TO BE BORN:
Mamie was born April 30, 1942 to Charlie and Mary Reynolds Simmons
in Chatham, Virginia. She joined High Rock Baptist Church in Rice, VA
after marrying her late husband, William Junious Eppes.
A TIME TO LEARN:
Mamie attended Luther Foster High School until the 11 th grade and
went on later to obtain a general education diploma (GED). She then
completed the requirements to become certified nursing assistant
(CNA) at the skill center in Crewe, VA.
ATIME TO WORK:
She was employed by the Eldercare Nursing Facility for a while, and
then became a CNA at Piedmont Geriatric Hospital, until she retired
after 23 years.
A TIME FOR FAMILY:
Mamie was the loving mother to eight children, whom she adored. She
was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Mary Simmons; her
beloved husband, William Eppes; three daughters, Rachel, Priscilla and
Sherby; eight brothers, and two sisters.
She leaves to cherish loving memories: her children, Dallas Eppes, Lisa
Brown, Leslie Taylor (James), Eric Eppes (Selena), Timothy Eppes
(Shaunda); a devoted niece, Emma Minor, whom she loved dearly; sister,
Lois Ann Eppes; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, in-
laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

    Aunt Mamie was always warm and kind to me when I visited my Father Charles "June" Simmons' VA Family. She was a beautiful and caring Aunt. God bless her children, Emma and all who loved her.
